As the sun started to set the track was bathed with diminishing light, it was the first time I’d seen it in this setting…

The action never stopped, cars came off and even more went on.

Truly stunning.

It got dark fairly quickly but the driving didn’t seem to slow down at all.

Brakes still glowing mid corner.

This photo reminds me of Gran Turismo for some reason, not too long now.

The night was now upon us, but the cars kept racing.

When the track got dark I decided to go right up to the cars behind the guard-rail. It was an amazing feeling under this light. All these super-cars coming at full steam down the main straight, slam the brakes and turn in. You could feel the waves of air they displaced and every curb they hit could be felt through your feet. All you could see was what the drivers would see, the headlight shine. The tire squeal, the engine notes, it was all right there within reach. It’s the first time I’ve felt so immersed while being just a spectator, if only it could be conveyed through a monitor.

Racing in no light what-so-ever seemed almost dangerous, either you knew the track or you wouldn’t be going fast at all, these guys were pretty crazy. This would be good night training for a 24h race, the only light available was that of your headlights.

This is where my camera equipment began letting me down, couldn’t auto-focus on anything. So I had to switch not only Manual mode but also Manual Focus, the flash looks terrible and without it I had to shoot at 1/5 just to get any light in, things get pretty experimental from here on…

A guard-rail doubles as a good tripod.

The disks where glowing on all cars, pretty sick to see.

After this intense session ended I headed home, apparently there was another one after it until almost 10, so rad!
